Led by Fred Baxter, AIA, the team includes highly qualified architects and draftsmen. The many engineers, designers, and contractors that we have built relationships with over the past 20 years are an important part of our team. Together we are creating beautiful and functional buildings for a growing list of residential and commercial clients.
As a licensed Architect in Washington State, Fred has met the educational requirements required by the state to practice Architecture. After graduating Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Architecture from Washington State University, Fred served several years in apprenticeship in firms including NBBJ of Seattle before passing the week-long state licensing exam in 1984. As a member of the American Institute of Architects, he is required to meet ethical standards and fulfill annual continuing education requirements intended to keep members abreast of current trends in the profession.
Fred grew up in Longview, Washington with a strong value for the family. His greatest childhood memories are of decorating the family home for Christmas where his dad, whose career had been in retail management and advertising, demonstrated his artistic gifts as he transformed their home with holiday magic. His dad's strong sense of "informal balance" has had a profound influence on Fred's work.
Fred believes architecture is an art as well as an applied science. It has a significant impact on how we feel in our homes and our communities. Excellent architectural design can be the most valuable line item in a construction project's budget.
Fred and his wife Jennifer have lived in their renovated home in old town Mukilteo since 1990. Fred walks the two blocks to the firm's office. They have raised their two sons, Joel and Jeffers, in Mukilteo. The Baxter family enjoys the small town atmosphere and convenience of the Old Town area, where they can walk to the community activities and businesses. Fred is a member and past president of the South Everett/Mukilteo Rotary Club, the Mukilteo Chamber of Commerce, Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity, Washington State University Alumni Association, and along with his family, attends Alderwood Community Church.
